Beck’s New Money-Making Scheme: Self-Aggrandizing TheBlaze.com
August 31, 2010
(ChattahBox)—Fresh on the heels of Glenn Beck’s much-hyped “Restoring Honor” rally, comes a new way for Beck to cash-in. With the formation of Glenn Beck Inc., Beck launched a conservative news website, called TheBlaze, which the self-described rodeo clown, says is a source for “the stories that matter most. What are the stories the Fox News broadcaster believes matter the most with his zombie army? Stories all about Glenn Beck, lots and lots of stories featuring Glenn Beck and Glenn Beck’s ventures.
Beck says on his new website, he created TheBlaze, because “Too many important stories are overlooked. And too many times we see mainstream media outlets distorting facts to fit rigid agendas.” [...]
“We want this to be a place where you can find breaking news, original reporting, insightful opinions and engaging videos about the stories that matter most,” writes Beck
According to a very complimentary “exclusive” piece by Mediate, reporting on Beck’s new venture, endorsed by Goldline International, currently under investigation, Scott Baker, formerly of Breitbart TV (natch!) has been tapped to edit TheBlaze.
“People will inevitably make the comparison to Arianna Huffington – whether Beck’s role as figurehead behind the site will make The Blaze into a conservative Huffington Post. “The one thing pretty clear around Mercury [Beck's company] is that Glenn is not short on ideas or hesitant on input,” Baker said. “His input is already evident in how the site looks, and that’s what will continue. It will be a continual flow of tips and suggestions and encouragement.”’
Among the current front page stories on TheBlaze, “Glenn’s Disgrace? Shocking Racism at Al Sharpton’s MLK Anniversary Politics,” “A Message From Glenn,” “HuffPo Pulls Glenn Beck ‘Sex Tape’ Article,” “NY Times Columnist on Beck: ‘I Underestimated the Man’ Faith,’ “Kurtz Defends Beck: He’s Not Like Al-Qaeda,” as well as a number stories reporting on his 8-28 “Restoring Honor” rally.
Well, you get the idea. All Beck, all the time. What a perfect vehicle for a deranged Messianic media personality.
