Looting Begins In Destroyed California Neighborhood
September 10, 2010
California (ChattahBox U.S. News) – Police have confirmed that there has been looting in the middle-class neighborhood that burnt down this week, after a gas main exploded in San Francisco.
San Bruno Police Chief Neil Telford told USA Today that they had already had to chase at least one man who was stealing from the burnt homes, or what was left of those still standing. The unnamed man assaulted police when he was surrounded and ended up being arrested after more officers were called to the scene.
The fire killed four people, injured 54, and caused smoke inhalation illness if four fire fighters after a gas main exploded and destroyed 38 houses in San Bruno, a suburb of San Francisco. The fire has been contained, but damage is still being assessed, and many people are still waiting to hear what it is they have lost.
Police dogs are sniffing through rubble to find further bodies, however it is not believed that anyone else is missing.
