Dean Stabbed By Assailant In Unprovoked Attack On Penn Valley Campus

September 14, 2010

Missouri (ChattahBox Crime News) – A man described as a school dean was stabbed in an unprovoked attack by a young man in the Humanities building of the Metropolitan Community College’s Penn Valley campus.

According to police, eyewitnesses say that a man around 20-years-old walked up to the unnamed administrator this morning while he was walking down the hall of the Humanities building. He produced a knife and slashed at his throat.

Attempting to flee, a group of onlookers managed to tackle the assailant and get the knife out of his hand, holding him down until police arrived with emergency services. He was then arrested, and police say he appeared to have been on drugs when the attack occurred.

The young man is believed to have been a student, and the stabbing was near a computer lap where Governor Jay Nixon was scheduled to speak. It is not known if the attack is related to that engagement.

The dean is alive but in serious condition.
