Karl Rove Met Christine O’Donnell: ‘I Wasn’t Frankly, Impressed’
September 16, 2010
(ChattahBox Political News)—Karl Rove, former Bush political dirty trickster and now a Fox News contributor, is not impressed with teapartier Christine O’Donnell. Christine O’Donnell, 41, is the GOP tea party senatorial candidate in Delaware, a former anti-masturbation, abstinence, anti-gay and anti-lying advocate, who apparently has not held down a real job in the past five-years. How has she paid her bills? O’Donnell has become a perennial candidate, running for the senate three times in five years. She has been accused of misusing campaign funds to pay her rent and other living expenses, while not paying her campaign staff. O’Donnell, financially backed by the Tea Party Express, ran on the tea party mantra of small government and fiscal responsibility. But her own financial history is anything but. Her home was in foreclosure, the I.R.S. slapped a tax lien on it, and her former college sued her for unpaid school bills. Her “checkered” financial past, as Karl Rove describes it, is just the tip of the iceberg. O’Donnell holds very, very extreme fringe views on sexuality, morality and Christianity. The unmarried O’Donnell has spent her adulthood, preaching chastity and equating masturbation with adultery. She is also a vicious homophobe and not above making false Rovian-like character assassinations. During the primary campaign against establishment candidate Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE), she made up a story about the married Congressman being secretly gay.
But Karl Rove is still not impressed, calling her “nutty” and unelectable. After taking heat for his comments from the right-wing, including Sarah Palin, Rove doubled down on his criticism of O’Donnell, when he said “She does not “evince the characteristics of rectitude and truthfulness and sincerity and character.” Yesterday Rove said, the Delaware voters have a lot of “questions” about her shady background, so “we’ll see.” Yes we will.
Sarah Palin, who endorsed O’Donnell, told Rove it was time for conservatives to “buck up” and show unity, behind the radical tea party candidate.
“Everything that he is saying is un-factual, declared O’Donnell. “He’s the same so-called political guru that predicted I wasn’t going to win. And we won, and we won big. So I think he’s eating some humble pie,” O’Donnell told George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America.
Rove is not backing down on being unimpressed with the unemployed 41-year old virgin:
“I believe the questions [about] why she had a problem for five years with paying her federal income taxes, why her house was foreclosed on and put up for sale, why it took 16 years to settle her college debt and get her diploma while she went around for years claiming she was a college graduate,” Rove said. “I think a lot of voters in Delaware are going to want more than she is offering to them right now, and we’ll see,” Rove told Greta Van Susteren on Fox News.
As for the defeated Castle, his aide released a statement, calling O’Donnell a con woman.
“She is a con artist who won by lying about Castle’s positions and her own life,” said Kate Dickens, a Castle aide. “Out of state support was enough to pull her through yesterday so she can rely on it through November.”
Meanwhile, O’Donnell’s Democratic senatorial opponent Chris Coons, an elected executive of New Castle County, is enjoying a huge lead going into the general election.
Public Policy Polling tweeted after the primary, “Castle primary voters supports Coons over O’Donnell 44-28 in general election.”
And “Chris Coons begins the general election in Delaware with a 50-34 lead over Christine O’Donnell, according to PPP.
