Florida Rules Gay Adoption Ban A Violation of Rights, Strikes it Down

September 22, 2010

Florida (ChattahBox U.S. News) – Florida has made a powerful strike against inequality today, after a court ruled that a full ban on homosexual adoption was an infringement on human rights.

Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running for a place in the Senate on an Independent ticket, said that he will not uphold a ban that goes against the rights of homosexual men and women, saying that it should be based on what is best for the child in question.

The ruling came after a horrible case, where a gay man who had two foster children – both boys – had the children taken from his home after filing for adoption. The agency claimed that he was neglecting them, but that was found to be untrue. It was later admitted that it was the man’s sexual orientation that was the deciding factor.
