Christine O’Donnell Was Against Lying, Before She Was For It (Video)

(ChattahBox Political News)—Christine O’Donnell, once said she would not lie if Hitler knocked at her door asking if she was hiding Jews. At the time, O’Donnell was working as a right-wing Christian media personalty, advocating various nutty policies. And besides promoting her Biblical anti-masturbation, anti-sex beliefs, O’Donnell decided that, no matter what the circumstances, lying was a sin. But apparently God would understand lying and an exaggeration or two, when O’Donnell decided to pad her resume for financial gain. Her LinkedIn page, says she attended the University of Oxford and Claremont Graduate University. She didn’t. And about her undergraduate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson–O’Donnell didn’t earn her degree until just this month, 12-years after attending graduation ceremonies, because she owed the school money and additional coursework.
O’Donnell made her remarks about lying during a 1998 appearance on “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher.” “The lie, whether it be a lie or an exaggeration, is disrespect to whoever you’re exaggerating or lying to because it’s not respecting reality,” she said.
Fast forward a few years later, when O’Donnell became a perennial candidate and suddenly lying was OK, if it made her appear to be more educated and informed than she really was.
About her claim that she attended Oxford–she actually was inside an Oxford building once, but only to take a course offered by an outfit, called the Phoenix Institute that rented a room from the University. Greg Sargent of the Plum Line, was on top of the Oxford fib. Chris Fletcher, an official from the Phoenix Institute told Sargent, O’Donnell’s LinkedIn claim that she attended Oxford, is “misleading” at best.
“We never represented it as a course run by Oxford University,” said the official from the Phoenix Institute. “It wasn’t an official course of Oxford University,” Fletcher said. “It wasn’t sponsored by Oxford University. We rented the space.”
What about O’Donnell’s claim she completed a course at Claremont Graduate University? She apparently never set foot in the place. Public relations officer, Rod Leveque told political blogger Gary Scott that the school had no record of O’Donnell.
Talking Points Memo also contacted Leveque. “Claremont Graduate University has no student or education record for an individual named Christine O’Donnell,” confirmed Leveque.
How did O’Donnell think she could get away with such a whopper of a lie?
Scott reports O’Donnell was associated with a right-wing think tank with a similar sounding name.
“In 2002, O’Donnell was listed as a “Lincoln Fellow” at the Claremont Institute, a conservative think tank also based in Claremont. However, the institute is not affiliated with the Claremont Graduate University or any of the other Claremont Colleges. One of the Claremont Institute’s fellows, Harry Jaffa, did teach at the Claremont Graduate University back when it was known as Claremont Graduate School.”
“You always have to talk about the truth…. I tell the truth,” O’Donnell told Maher.
