Beck: Same as ‘ObamaCare’ If Tenn. Firefighters Had Put Out Fire (Video)
October 9, 2010
(ChattahBox Political News)—Earlier in the week, Glenn Beck mocked a Tennessee homeowner who was forced to watch his family home burn down, as three dogs and a cat perished in the blaze. Because the homeowner Gene Cranick didn’t pay the required $75 fee for rural fire service, the firefighters not only refused to put out the fire, but stood by and watched. The fireman didn’t take out their hoses until the fire spread to a neighbor’s property, who had paid the fee. The cavalier behavior of the firefighters and the town’s mayor, shocked the nation. But not Beck. He derided people who felt “compassion” for the Cranick family, because he said such freeloaders would be “sponging” of their neighbors. Now, Beck is praising the firefighters’ actions, saying if they had given in to compassion, then it would be the same as “ObamaCare.”
Fox News’ conspiracy-theorist-in-chief made his remarks during an appearance on Bill O’Reilly’s the Factor. When he mentioned ObamaCare, Beck was referencing the elimination of pre-existing conditions in the health care reform bill, as a reason to deny Americans health insurance. In Beck’s warped mind, firefighters should watch homes burn to the ground, and sick people should unnecessarily suffer and die from lack of access to affordable and quality health care.
Such a world of compassionate conservatism and pure free market principles is a teapartier’s fantasy, but to most people it would be hell on earth.
O’Reilly, said he believed the firefighters should have put out the fire and charged the family with the associated costs. But Beck disagreed.
BECK: ObamaCare. You are proposing ObamaCare. It doesn’t work. This is fire insurance. If I can go buy insurance which is–Obama–what he wants to do with Obamacare and is doing. That $75 is to keep everyone –everyone’s house safe. It is to be able to have a fire department.
Tea party nation–gotta love it.
