Manchin Takes ‘Dead Aim’ at Obama, Forgets He’s a Democrat (Video)

October 11, 2010

(ChattahBox Political News)–Is this Gov. Joe Manchin’s “complete the danged fence,” moment? In his desperation to win his senatorial bid against tea party millionaire John Raese, Manchin is swinging so far right, he’s throwing President Obama and his own Party under the bus. It’s a pitiful and cowardly display for a Democratic candidate. But this toxic political climate and a slew of fringe extremist Republican candidates providing nightly fodder for late night comics, is anything but normal. This morning, Manchin attacked the Affordable Care Act on Fox News, calling for the “repeal” of “ObamaCare,” a bill he previously supported. Now, Manchin has decided his campaign could use a little gun imagery to appeal to the gun nuts. In a new ad, Manchin decks himself out in hunting gear, complete with a rifle, as he literally shoots a copy of the Cap and Trade bill, pledging to take on “this administration.”

The ad shows Manchin in the woods touting his NRA bonafides, as he loads shells into his hunting rifle equipped with a scope.

“As your senator I’ll protect our 2nd amendment rights, that’s why the NRA endorsed me,” says Manchin.

The West Virginian governor then goes on the attack against President Obama and Democratic policies, including health care reform and Cap and Trade.

“I’ll take on Washington and this administration to get the federal government off of our backs and out of our pockets,” Machin says in the ad.

He adds for good measure, “I’ll cut federal spending and I’ll repeal the bad parts of Obamacare.”

And when it comes to the Democrats’ signature climate change bill, Manchin shoots a hole in it, literally.

“I sued EPA and I’ll take dead aim at the cap-and-trade bill, because it’s bad for West Virginia” says Manchin.
