Rand Paul Worker: Stomping Liberal Woman Not ‘That Big of a Deal’ (Video)

October 27, 2010

(ChattahBox Political News)—Tim Profitt, the former Bourbon County coordinator for Rand Paul’s campaign and amateur tea party curbstomper, believes violence against women and political opponents is not “…that big of a deal.” Profitt, along with another tea party extremist, wrestled MoveOn.org activist Lauren Valle to the ground, while Profitt also stomped Valle in the head. The ugly scene was captured on video outside of Monday night’s debate between Paul and his Democratic opponent Jack Conway. The incident highlighted a disturbing trend of right-wing violence, intimidation and eliminationist rhetoric this election cycle. But tea party senatorial candidate Rand Paul didn’t see fit to outright condemn the brutal attack waged by his own campaign workers. He instead, spoke through Fox News to attribute the assault on Valle to “so many people so passionate on both sides, jockeying back and forth.” Is it any wonder then that Paul’s supporters, taking their cue from him, are defiant and unapologetic about the attack? Is this what Americans will be facing, if the wave of radical tea party candidates win congressional power in November? The headstomper Profitt is not only refusing to apologize for his criminal thuggery, but he expects Valle to apologize to him.

After Profitt was identified as the stomper, he was served with a criminal summons for assault. The Paul campaign issued a statement calling the attack “incredibly unfortunate.”

“The Paul campaign has disassociated itself with the individual who took part in this incident, and once again urges all activists — on both sides — to remember that their political passions should never manifest themselves in physical altercations of any kind,” read the statement.

That’s it. No apology. No condemnation of the thuggish attack on a female liberal activist, just because Paul’s supporters didn’t like her politics. Ironically, the same day of the attack Paul took out a full page ad in the Herald Leader touting the endorsement of stomper Tim Profitt. The unapologetic stomper also donated $2,500 to Paul’s campaign.

Profitt has made numerous excuses for his brutal attack, like his fearless leader, blaming his violent behavior on the other side.

“We thought she was a danger; we didn’t know what she was doing,” said Profitt, adding he and his fellow teapartiers found Valle’s behavior to be “aggressive.”

WKYT News reports that Profitt believes his violent actions were misunderstood and he stomped Valle in the head due to a backache.

“Profitt explained that he used his foot to try and keep her down because he can’t bend over because of back problems. He also says police were alerted to watch her before Paul arrived because people in the crown recognized her as someone who may try and pull a stunt.”

Valle was, in fact, attempting to get a picture taken next to Rand Paul while holding a sign designating Paul as a recipient of “employee of the month award” from the satirical Republicorp.

During an appearance on MSNBC last night, Valle described a chaotic scene, wherein a group of Rand Paul workers surrounded and menaced her. Valle believes the attack was “premeditated.”

“I have been at a bunch of events before, the previous debate, and the Rand Paul campaign knows me and they have expressed their distaste for my work before. What happened last night was that about five minutes before Rand Paul’s car arrived they identified me and my partner, Alex, who was with me. They surrounded me. There was five of them. They motioned to each other and got behind me. My partner Alex heard them say ‘We are here to do crowd control we might have to take someone out.'”

And take Valle out they did, by stomping on her head and sending her to the hospital with a concussion.

Profitt, meanwhile, continues to make media appearances and grant interviews to defend his “misunderstood” behavior, casting himself as the thuggish protector of Rand Paul from the dangers of liberal activists with signs.

Appearing on WKYT News, but too ashamed to show his face on camera, Profitt not only refused to apologize to Valle for his attack, but instead demanded that she apologize to him.

“As for Profitt, he remains defiant. “I don’t think it’s that big of a deal,” Profitt said.”

“And when asked if he would apologize to Valle. “I would like for her to apologize to me to be honest with you,” Profitt said.”

Truly despicable. No wonder he doesn’t want to show his face. His partner in crime, extremist open-carry advocate, Mike Pezzano at least had the decency to condemn Profitt’s curbstomping of Valle.

I find it very revealing that Profitt didn’t want his face to be shown in the interview. Typical coward behavior.
