Clarence Thomas’ Wife to Take ‘Back Seat’ to Fighting Obama’s Leftist ‘Tryanny’
November 15, 2010
(ChattahBox Political News)—Virginia Thomas, the controversial tea party activist wife of right-wing Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, announced through her spokesperson today, she’s stepping down as President and CEO of Liberty Central, the conservative political lobbying group she founded last year. Virginia Thomas’ very vocal and public tea party activism and her vow to fight against President Obama’s “tyranny” and “hard-left agenda” raises serious ethical and conflict of interest issues for the wife of a supreme court justice. And the hundreds of thousands of secret donations propping up the group presents the possibility of pay-to-play corruption. Her spokesperson says, without elaborating, Virginia Thomas will be taking a “back seat” to the day-to-day operations of Liberty Central.
According to the Washington Post, Virgina Thomas, a longtime conservative political operative, is stepping aside from the anti-Obama tea party group because of media “distractions.”
“The spokeswoman, Caitlin Carroll of CRC Public Relations in Alexandria, said Monday morning that an announcement was scheduled for later in the day or Tuesday morning detailing the merger of Liberty Central with another organization and Thomas’s decision to step down as chief executive.”
“She’ll take a back seat so that Liberty Central can continue with its mission without any of the distractions,” Carroll said. “After discussing it with the board, Mrs. Thomas determined that it was best for the organization.”‘
Besides the obvious conflict of issue problem with Virgina Thomas’ political activism and fundraising for cash from anonymous donors, she also brought renewed attention to the past allegations of sexual harassment made against her husband by Anita Hill.
The day after a damaging article appeared in The New York Times, raising questions about her controversial activities with Liberty Central, Virginia Thomas inexplicably left a phone message for Anita Hill, the victim of her husband’s alleged sexual harassment, demanding an apology.
Hill, obviously, declined to apologize to her alleged abuser and reported the phone message to the authorities.
Virginia Thomas also came under scrutiny for posting a screed on Liberty Central’s website, declaring healthcare reform unconstitutional. The healthcare reform law has been legally contested by a number of Republican politicians and is expected to reach the Supreme Court for a final ruling.
Liberty Central later issued a statement, saying Virginia Thomas was mistakenly credited with writing the anti-healthcare reform post.
Liberty Central’s fight against Obama’s “hard left agenda,” his “European style socialist Democracy” and “tyranny” will have to soldier on without Virginia Thomas at the helm.
Despite her announcement that she’s stepping down, the Liberty Central website still prominently features Virgina Thomas’ big thank you to voters for taking America back.
“Thank You America for another chance to restore our country based on what you all did at the ballot box,” gushes Thomas.
