Barbara Bush Prefers Sarah Palin Not Sully the White House
November 21, 2010
(ChattahBox Political News)—Former First Lady Barbara Bush suggested she does not approve of Sarah Palin’s snowbilly grifter ways. The respectable pearl-wearing doyenne of Republican women applied her “beautiful mind” to assess the spectacle that is Sarah Palin and has turned up her nose. Now, of course the conspicuously unintelligent former half-term governor turned right-wing media celebrity is not qualified to become the leader of the Free World, for a myriad of serious reasons, including bigotry, divisiveness, vindictiveness, and let’s face it, the lady is dumb as a rock. But Barbara Bush’s objections to the current reality TV star seem more to do with snooty class distinctions, which would just embolden Palin’s anti-elite, anti-establishment victimization routine. In other words, in Palin speak, “Don’t retreat, reload,” and “refudiate” the Washington elite, “You betcha,” or something like that.
The New York Times’ Frank Rich penned an Op/Ed piece today on Sarah Palin’s unlikely pursuit of the White House. His observations on the success of Palin’s anti-elite routine are right on. The more she stumbles, the stronger she becomes in the eyes of her anti-establishment “real” American uneducated followers.
“But logic doesn’t apply to Palin. What might bring down other politicians only seems to make her stronger: the malapropisms and gaffes, the cut-and-run half-term governorship, family scandals, shameless lying and rapacious self-merchandising. In an angry time when America’s experts and elites all seem to have failed, her amateurism and liabilities are badges of honor. She has turned fallibility into a formula for success,” writes Rich.
Barbara Bush, not above vindictiveness herself, once took a public swipe at Democratic vice-presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro, by calling her a name that she dared not speak. “I can’t say it, but it rhymes with rich,” said Mrs. Bush. What a quaint and inside the Beltway blue blood slap.
The Thriller from Wasilla who recently attacked Alaskan journalists as “corrupt bastards” would not have held herself back from uttering the B-word, like a true member of the white trash set.
Barbara Bush made her remarks about Palin during an appearance on CNN’s Larry King Live, along with her husband, former President George H. W. Bush.
When asked her opinion of Sarah Palin, Bush responded the Sarah should stick to what she knows best, presumably moose hunting and starring in realty TV shows, far, far away from Washington, in Alaska.
“I sat next to her once. Thought she was beautiful,” Barbara Bush said. “And she’s very happy in Alaska, and I hope she’ll stay there.”
So, don’t we all Mrs. Bush, so don’t we all. But Palin is the zombie political and media spectacle that just won’t die.
