Rudy ‘Mr. 9/11′ Giuliani Eyes Yet Another Presidential Run
January 7, 2011
(ChattahBox Political News)–Some people just need to be in the spotlight. The former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, a noun, a verb and 9/11 is considering another run for president in 2012, according to a NY Post report. Considering that his 2008 presidential bid was a colossal failure, why he thinks he has even a remote chance of securing the Republican nomination is unknown. But it will keep Giuliani in the news and on the guest list of talk shows, so that may be enough for a man who has shamelessly invoked 9/11 for political gain for nearly 10-years.
The Politico reports that when asked about the NY Post piece, Giuliani acknowledged he was keeping his options open.
“Giuliani “thinks the Republican race will be populated with far-right candidates like Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee, and there’s opportunity for a moderate candidate with a background in national security,” a source told the paper.”
“He is planning a February visit to New Hampshire, where he placed fourth in the GOP presidential primary last time around.”
“Asked about the Post report this morning, Giuliani said “of course I keep in the back of my mind” the possibility of running again and indicated he is considering an early visit to the Granite state.”
The Post speculates that Giuliani is merely trying to remain politically relevant.
“Some insiders say it’s a way for Giuliani to stay relevant. “He’s not doing all these morning talk shows because he enjoys the conversation, it is because he wants to stay in the game,” one said.
‘”He has previously said he would not run again, but he wants us to think he will,” a different source said. “He’s not being talked about among the Republican contenders, and his ego can’t take that.”‘
Since his failed 2008 campaign, Giuliani has resorted to making sad sack media appearances to talk tough about terrorism, and spread false GOP talking points.
During a recent appearance on ABC’s The View, Giuliani trashed President Obama by claiming Sarah Palin, the former half-term governor and conspicuously unintelligent reality TV star has “more qualifications” to be president than President Obama.
