Don Imus Directs Ire at Rachel Maddow, Calling Her ‘Worst Kind of Coward’

January 27, 2011

(ChattahBox U.S. News)—With Keith Olbermann’s departure from MSNBC still rocking the cable news world, other networks are pointing fingers at Olbermann’s colleagues, asking why he didn’t receive more support. In the latest attack, Don Imus said on his radio show that Rachel Maddow is a “gutless, sniveling worm” for not coming to Olbermann’s defense, mediaite.com reports.

Imus, who now works for the Fox Business Network, was referring to Maddow’s appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher, where she seemed stunned upon hearing the news that Olbermann was leaving. Imus suggests that Maddow “owed her job” to Olbmerann and therefore should have offered a defense of him but didn’t, making her “the worst kind of coward,” mediaite.com notes.

Imus claims that the news of Olbermann’s impending departure was common knowledge among MSNBC staffers, and therefore Maddow should have known it was coming before Maher made her aware of it, mediaite.com reports.
