Ron Paul on The Donald: ‘How Many Times’ Has Trump Won Elections?
February 14, 2011
(ChattahBox Political News)—The barbs are flying fast and furious between wacky libertarian hero Ron Paul (R-TX) and New York real estate bloviator Donald Trump. During an appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference last weekend, The Donald took a swipe at Paul, telling the crowd of enthusiastic followers that the libertarian congressman can’t win a presidential election. Paul, the CPAC straw poll winner, took the opportunity this morning to fire right back at Trump, asking how many elections has The Donald won? Good question.
Trump jabbed Paul in response to being heckled at CPAC by rowdy Paul supporters shouting “Ron Paul!”
“I like Ron Paul. I think he is a good guy, but, honestly, he just has zero chance of getting elected. And I can tell you this: If I run, and if I win, this country will be respected again,” said Trump.
In response, Trump was roundly booed.
Paul said, “I was elected 11 times, and somebody said, ‘How many times has Donald Trump been elected?” Paul added, “Does he really have the right to go and criticize others?”
The Trump, Paul kerfuffle is all very amusing, but really the annoying loudmouth Trump knows full well he can’t win a presidential election.
People don’t like you much Donald.
A new Public Policy poll found that 56 percent of Republicans think unfavorably of Trump. And only 29 percent of Republicans like Trump.
Paul, with his youthful base of rabid libertarian followers, fared better than Trump, but not by much, according to the Public Policy Polling blog. The full pol is due out tomorrow.
“Want to know just how unrepresentative of the GOP base CPAC straw poll voters are? Among actual Republican primary voters only 30% have a favorable opinion of Ron Paul to 37% who view him in a negative light. Outside of his passionate but small following most Republicans actually dislike Paul (and I imagine wish he would go away.)”
Still, The Donald and his ridiculous comb-over would sure make for an entertaining spectacle.
