Right-Wing Reacts to Obama’s Birth Certificate With Racist Paranoia
April 27, 2011
(ChattahBox Political News)—Soon after President Obama released his long-form birth certificate this morning, the lunatic right-wing that has taken over the Republican Party, responded with expected nutty paranoia, and even advanced new racist conspiracy theories. No matter what, right-wing birthers who refuse to accept that fact that a black man named Barack Hussein Obama is our President, will continue to doubt his legitimacy as long as they breathe. Establishment Republican leaders, such as House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), who have shamelessly encouraged the birthers, attacked Obama for responding to the debunked conspiracy theory. Fox News questioned the birth certificate’s authenticity. The nutty birthers also suggested the long-form birth certificate is fake, or that Obama is still not a natural born citizen, because his father was Kenyan. Birther queen Orly Taitz’s response took a darker, uglier turn. She says the birth document is suspect, because it lists the race of Obama’s father as “African” instead of “Negro.” Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips waded into the racist sewer with Taitz. Phillips issued a statement demanding that President Obama release his college records to prove he didn’t benefit from a scholarship “reserved for foreign students.” Stay classy Republicans.
During his remarks this morning, President Obama cautioned that some determined birthers will continue to deny his legitimacy, regardless of the facts.
“I know that there’s going to be a segment of people for which, no matter what we put out, this issue will not be put to rest,” Obama said. “We do not have time for this kind of silliness. We’ve got better stuff to do. I’ve got better stuff to do. We’ve got big problems to solve. And I’m confident we can solve them, but we’re going to have to focus on them — not on this,” said Obama.
Below is a sampling of the ugly right-wing response:
First up is Orly Taitz, the lawyer, dentist and real estate agent who spends her days filing frivolous lawsuits, in her quest to prove that the “the de facto President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama,” is an illegal alien.
“In those years … when they wrote race, they were writing ‘Negro’ not ‘African’,” Taitz says. “In those days nobody wrote African as a race, it just wasn’t one of the options. It sounds like it would be written today, in the age of political correctness, and not in 1961 when they wrote white or Asian or ‘Negro’.”
Next comes Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips, who once became worked up over a Methodist Church’s support of a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. He lambasted the church in an anti-immigration rant, saying the Methodist faith is the “first Church of Karl Marx” and the “religious” arm of socialism.”
He’s now peddling a racist smear accusing President Obama of accepting a scholarship for “foreign” students.
“Donald Trump, being the savvy guy that he is, is already moving to his next target. Obama’s college records. Obama has never released his college records, including those at Occidental College. Many believe Obama went to college there on a scholarship reserved for foreign students, said Phillips.” He added that “Obama should release his college records, as well as his attorney disciplinary records. Whether he will or not is anyone’s guess, though once Obama broke and released this document, he will have a much harder time not releasing other documents.”
Last but not least, is the response of birther king Joseph Farah, the editor-in-chief of WorldNetDaily, the fetid online swamp of wacky birther conspiracies, complete with birther merchandise. Farah isn’t ready to concede that the long-form birth certificate is real. But even if it is, he contends there are plenty of other anti-Obama conspiracy theories that the new birth certificate doesn’t resolve.
“Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND, the only news agency that has waged a relentless investigative campaign on questions swirling around the Obama’s eligibility for nearly three years, was elated at the turn of events.”
“We’re gratified that our work has begun to pay off,” he said. “The certificate of live birth is an absolutely vital foundation for determining constitutional eligibility of any president. We look forward to reviewing it like so many other Americans do at this late date. But it is important to remember there are still dozens of other questions concerning this question of eligibility that need to be resolved to assure what has become a very skeptical public concerning Barack Obama’s parentage, his adoption, his citizenship status throughout his life and why he continues to cultivate a culture of secrecy around his life.”
Farah cautioned his birther legions not to be swayed by a document that could be a forgery.
“The news media and the political establishment were quick to rush to judgment regarding Obama’s eligibility in 2008, without any basis. It would be a big mistake for everyone to jump to a conclusion now based on the release of this document, which raises as many questions as it answers,” Farah added.
God, my head hurts from the blatant racism and nutty paranoia.
