UK Hacker McKinnon Loses Appeal, Will Be Extradited
July 30, 2008
Boston (ChattahBox) - British hacker Gary McKinnon lost his appeal today, and is set to be extradited to the United States.
McKinnon is the hacker responsible for the biggest military attack of all time, as he hacked into U.S. military computers in 2001 and 2002.
He caused a variety of problems for the U.S. military, and faces life in jail because of it.
He was fighting extradition, but his appeal was rejected by the House of Lords today.
He managed to carry out the attack from his bedroom in North London.
McKinnon has defended himself, stating he meant no harm and was just trying to find information on UFO files he believed that they had.
The 42-year old can either take a plea bargain, where he will get a 4-year jail sentence. If not, he faces up to 70 years in jail.
