Chinese Suicide Rates Increase Dramatically

December 9, 2008

Asia (ChattahBox) – According to a new report, a Chinese citizen commits suicide once every two minutes, giving China one of the highest suicide rates of any nation in the world. This startling number has been contributed to the huge amount of frequent changes in the countries policies, the stress of living in such a complicated society, and the Chinese governments habit of using the people as a way of profit while their quality of life is compromised.

“With the reforms, society has become more complicated,” Explained psychoanalyst Huo Datong. “Individualism has become more pronounced and psychological problems have become more and more serious.”

This, added onto an almost dangerous desire to become rich, and a growing obsession with youth has led to a unprecedented level of expectation for children, and a common practice of abandoning the elderly who are thought to no longer be useful to a powerful society.

Another problem is of past generations raising new ones that have broken out from the harsh realities of Communist regimes, and so children growing up unable to face the number of decisions that are now up to them, rather then a ruling government.

Add all of this to a lack of unity, isolation is rural areas, and the stress the suicide rate itself can create, and you have a deadly formula that is expected to get worst, unless drastic measures are taken.
