Pakistani Militant Arrested For Mumbai Attacks

December 31, 2008

Pakistan (ChattahBox) – Pakistani officials have confirmed the arrest of a militant in Islamabad, who has confessed to being involved in the Mumbai attacks, and that he has been giving details about the plot, as well as others involved.

Zarar Shah, believed to be a member of the banned extremist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, along with Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, have been cooperating with law enforcement, however details of the extent of their involvement has not been released.

“Shah has made some statement that he was involved,” an official told reporters under condition of anonymity. “I can tell you that he is singing.”

Pressure is now being put on Pakistan to extradite the suspects to India, or to begin their own trials against the two, but so far no plans for either have been released.
