Hillary Clinton Arrives In Israel For Talks On Two State Solution

March 3, 2009

Israel (ChattahBox) – Hillary Clinton arrived in Israel for negotiations and peace talks, which she and other U.S officials hope will lead to the creation of a two-state Israel.

It was also announced that two U.S envoys will be sent to Syria, in what many are seeing as the first real attempt at mending a relationship that was shattered by accusations of terrorism in 2005.

There are some worries that negotiations will be unable to move forward, as the current Prime Minister designate, Benjamin Netanyahu, has made it clear that he believe that peace talks with a fractured Arab nation is pointless, and that the majority of Palestine lacks the proper leadership needed to find a middle ground solution. Instead, he is quick to endorse indefinite military occupation.

But the U.S is adamant about pursuing this solution, at least as far as preliminary negotiations are concerned.

“We happen to believe that moving toward the two-state solution, step by step, is in Israel’s best interests. But obviously it’s up to the people and the government of Israel to decide how to define your interests,” Cinton said.
