Gas pipeline bombed again in W Canada

July 6, 2009

Canada (ChattahBox) – A series of pipe-bombings that appear to be domestic terrorist attacks by a single person or a group has the local government becoming increasingly concerned as they say it is ‘only a matter of time’ before someone is hurt or killed.

The target of these bombings is EnCana, a natural gas and oil company, which was busy repairing the damage of one of five of the bombings, when a sixth went off in the same area on July 4th. The gas pipeline in the western Canadian province of British Columbia, was previously bombed on July 1.

No one was hurt, but the fact that security and maintenance personnel was on site when the explosion occurred was not lost on anyone.

The explosions came along with a threatening letter sent anonymously to EnCana officials. Canada.com quotes:

“We will not negotiate with terrorists, which you are as you keep on endangering our families with crazy expansion of deadly gas wells in our homelands.”

While the letter states that there are more than one assailant, there is no evidence to exclusively back that assumption up.

“It just doesn’t make sense any more,” Mike Bernier told Canada.com

“We have no idea what they are thinking. They’re just out being stupid and doing vandalism and we have no idea why,”
