Does U.S. Have Iranian Nuclear Scientist?

October 8, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Iran’s foreign minister accused the US of being behind the disappearance of an one of its scientists allegedly involved in the country’s nuclear program. The scientist, Shahram Amiri, disappeared while making a religious pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia May. “”We’ve obtained documents about the US involvement in Shahram Amiri’s disappearance,” Iran’s foreign minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, said, according to the semi-official Fars news agency. “We hold Saudi Arabia responsible for Shahram Amiri’s situation and consider the U.S. to be involved in his arrest,” the Iranian minister said.

As for reports by Iran news agencies, which said Amiri was a staff member of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mottaki said “These(reports) are speculations discussed by Western media and we pursue his case as an Iranian national.”  An American official denied any knowledge of Amiri or his disappearance.  Some reports have suggested Amiri wanted to seek asylum abroad.
