Scientists Admits To al-Qaida Link, Terror Plot Talk

October 12, 2009

France (ChattahBox) – One of the two Algerian-born Frenchmen taken into custody last week has admitted to a regular online correspondence with a North African al-Qaida member.

According to an unnamed official, who spoke to The Guardian anonymously as the investigation is ongoing, the scientist on the Large Hadron Collider project was arrested, along with his brother, in Vienne.

The 32-year-old admitted that he had spoken with an al-Qaida member regularly online, and that they had discussed terror plots, though nothing had yet been officially planned.

The emails were picked up by U.S. monitors, who were watching the movements of the North African link.

Nothing at work could have been used by the French scientist to enact a terror plot, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research said.
