Internal Document Speaks Of Palestinians Losing Faith On Obama

October 13, 2009

Palestine (ChattahBox) – A memo being circulated by President Mahmoud Abbas has said that the he and other members of Fatah have lost hope in Obama and his administration, after they say the U.S. backed off of Israel settlement negotiations.

The internal document alleges that President Obama has given in to pro-Israel pressure in Washington, and stepped away from it’s aid in stopping settlements being created, and negotiations for peace being continued.

According to the memo, he “couldn’t withstand the pressure of the Zionist lobby, which led to a retreat from his previous positions on halting settlement construction and defining an agenda for the negotiations and peace.”

The White House has countered this claim, which has been made before by Fatah, saying that it is dedicated to peace, but that it does not believe freezing settlements are a precursor to negotiations, and do not see it as a requirement.
