North Korea Says it Wants Peace With the US

January 11, 2010

(Chattahbox)—North Korea has finally agreed to talk with the United States as well as other countries about ending its nuclear program in the form of a renewed peace treaty. This peace treaty will replace a truce that ended the Korean war 57 years ago.

However, North Korea will not even agree to rejoin the six nation talks until the sanctions placed on the country by the UN last year for nuclear and ballistic missile testing are lifted. The only way for relations between the United States and North Korea to improve, is if the state of war between the two is ended.

North Korea has laid the blame on the United States, stating that it would have never built any nuclear weapons, only if the United States could “assure North Korea peace.” With the United States and South Korea afraid that North Korea is just trying to delay its nuclear disarmament through complex negotiations, the situation is not going to get better fast.
