Details Emerge On Ethiopian Plane Crash; Flew Wrong Way
January 26, 2010
Ethiopia (ChattahBox) – Authorities are saying that the pilot of the plane that crashed, leaving 90 people feared dead, failed to follow directions from the control tower which resulted in the plane going the wrong way.
According to a report the pilot was told to go on a specific course and went the wrong way. When asked to correct his course he turned the plane in the opposite direction.
Officials do not know why he did this, or if it was some kind of an accident.
“A command tower recording shows the tower told the pilot to turn to avoid the storm, but the plane went in the opposite direction,” Defence Minister Elias Murr said.
“We do not know what happened or whether it was beyond the pilot’s control.”
Flight ET409 carried 90 people, 24 of which have been pulled from the sea. The others are presumed dead, but searched continue.
