February 3, 2010
Pakistan (ChattahBox) – Three U.S. soldiers have been named as the first American military casualties in Pakistan after an explosion killed at least six, three of which were school girls, and left another 70 injured.
Of the seventy injured, sixty three others were also school girls in Lower Dir where the attack took place.
The three unnamed soldiers were a part of a group sent to help train Pakistani troops in counter-insurgency.
They had been on their way to attend the inauguration of a school that was renovated with U.S. assistance.
Tehreek-e-Taliban, a Pakistani branch of the Taliban, claimed responsibility for the savage attack.
This is one of many attacks to hit girl’s schools in recent years.
