Mumbai Attack Lawyer Gunned Down In India
February 12, 2010
Shahid Azmi, a former child terrorist who was convicted but moved on to become a respected lawyer and hero to the Muslim community, was found dead in his home.
He was shot four times in the head and chest by four men that broke into his home.
His attackers got away, and police suspect they were hired as a professional hit.
Azmi was arrested at the age of 15 for plotting to kill a Right Wing Hindu leader in the Hindu-Muslim riots, and spent seven years in prison.
During his time spent he studied and eventually passed his exams, becoming a successful and well respected lawyer.
He was recently representing Fahim Ansari, the man who worked alongside Mohammad Ajmal Kasab in two days of attacks that led to the deaths of 166 people in Mumbai in November ’08.
It is not known if the case had anything to do with his murder, as he has worked on numerous high profile cases, many including terrorism.
