New Arrest In Auschwitz Sign Theft

February 12, 2010

Sweden (ChattahBox) – A man has been arrested in Stockholm in connection to the theft of the “Arbeit Macht Frei” sign over the Auschwitz camp in December.

The sign had been taken down, cut into pieces and hidden in nearby wilderness by a group of men believed to be looking to fund a terrorist attack in Sweden.

Five Polish men have formerly been arrested for the crime, and the pieces retrieved.

But now Swedish-born Anders Anders Hogstrom has been arrested and is facing possible charges.

It is not clear what part he had in the operation.

Hogstrom, who is a former leader within the neo-Nazi movement, has denied any part in the sign theft and is said to be cooperating with police.
