Is Afghan President Karzai a Smack Addict?

April 6, 2010

(ChattahBox)— With Afghan President Hamid Karzai becoming increasingly erratic of late, the suggestion has been made that he may be addicted to the heroin that’s produced in abundance from his country’s poppy fields. Appearing on MSNBC this morning, Former United Nations envoy Peter Galbraith, attributed Karzai’s unstable behavior to a possible substance abuse problem. Well, he did just threaten to run away and join the Taliban insurgency to take up arms against the United States.

Peter Galbraith described Karzai, as a man on the brink of an emotional breakdown. “He can be very emotional, act impulsively,” said Galbraith.

“In fact, some of the palace insiders say that he has a certain fondness for some of Afghanistan’s most profitable exports,” added Galbraith.

When MSNBC anchor asked Galbraith if he was making the allegation that Karzai had a substance abuse problem, Galbraith responded “There are “reports to that effect.”
