Hundreds Dead In China Earthquake

April 14, 2010

China (ChattahBox) – Yet another earthquake in what seems to be a year of incredible seismic activity has led to the tragic deaths of hundreds in the Chinese province of Qinghai.

The 6.9 quake toppled buildings and left many trapped in rubble.

Officials are trying to get aid into the area as quickly as possible, but due to the slightly remote location they fear it may be several hours before planes reach it.

In the meantime, the military has been dispatched to pull people from the remains of fallen houses and businesses.

According to an unnamed reported on the scene to the BBC, 85% of the structures near the epicenter had collapsed, and a large number of students were trapped in the rubble of a vocational school.

Officials are continuing to search for survivors, but at least 300 people have been killed.
