Suspected Kosovo War Criminal Arrested
May 6, 2010
Police raided a house in Pristina and arrested 51-year-old Sabit Geci.
Geci was a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), where he worked for the militia at a detainment center in northern Albania in 1999.
While there he is accused of torturing and mistreating a number of prisoners between April and June of that years.
More than 10,000 people died in the war in Kosovo, a war that ended after Nato bombed Yugoslavia and the UN took control of the region.
Geci was originally investigated for extortion, and served five years for the crime before his release. This is his first arrest related to the alleged war crimes.
