At Least 66 Dead In Devastating Iraq Suicide Attacks
May 10, 2010
Iraq (ChattahBox) – After a number of marked defeats in the last month, including the deaths of several key figures in their organization, Al Qaeda set off a string of suicide attacks today to remind civilians that they aren’t gone from the region yet.
It was the deadliest attack since April in Iraq, and so far 66 have been claimed dead, and countless have been injured.
The suicide bombings targeted military and police checkpoints, a factory car park, and several outdoor market places teaming with civilians.
The attacks happened in several areas within 100 miles of Baghdad, making it a major campaign by insurgents.
“This was a message to us that they can attack us in different parts of the city at the same time because they have cells everywhere,” an anonymous source told Reuters.
