Deadly Libyan plane crash kills all aboard except for ‘miracle survivor’

May 12, 2010

(ChattahBox) – A Libyan plane arriving from South Africa crashed on landing at Tripoli airport Wednesday. Afriqiyah Airways listed 93 passengers and 11 crew members on board its flight 8U771 from Johannesburg and all may be dead, except for an eight-year-old Dutch boy, who was a miracle survivor, officials said.  The plane was full of Dutch tourists as it was being used by two Dutch tour operators, according to the Dutch Foreign Ministry.  No possible cause for the crash has been speculated on at this time, and weather conditions had been  reportedly ideal when the aircraft tried to touch down, with little wind and good visibility.

Workers with surgical masks at the crash site, combed through the smoldering wreckage that spilled over a large area.  Officials recovered the plane’s flight data recorder, which investigators use to piece together a flight’s last minutes.
