New Chinese School Attack Leads To Nine Brutal Deaths
May 12, 2010
Eleven more children – all under the age of six - in the class were injured by a suspect wielding a knife, though their exact condition is unknown.
The killer, named as Wu Huanming, committed suicide shortly after.
The devastating attack was part of a string of several that have occurred over the last month, including five that have happened in just the last two months.
This is being blamed on the lack on mental health available for those with serious psychological problems in China, and the media’s reporting of the issue in the region.
But this explanation doesn’t match completely to the most recent case. Wu Huanming had been in a property dispute with the owner of the kindergarten, Wu Hongying, who was killed along with her mother and the seven young children.
The media reports on this in China have been limited in hopes of quelling another copycat attack.
Security and safety procedures at schools have been subject to mandatory upgrading, but there has been little effect.
