Amanda Knox to Give Jailhouse TV Interview
May 17, 2010
(ChattahBox)—American student Amanda Knox, sitting in an Italian prison for the brutal rape and murder of her former roommate, is negotiating with three television networks for an interview to tell her story in her own words. Knox, 22, claims she is innocent of the crime, for which she is serving 26-years in prison.
“The Knox family have hired PR consultant David Marriott from their home town of Seattle in Washington. He has been at the centre of the negotiations with US channel ABC and Mediaset, the Italian TV company owned by billionaire controversial Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. The identity of the British company is not clear but it is thought to be an independent film company who have been given favourable access to the Knox family while making a documentary screened earlier this year on More 4.”
Knox’s Italian lawyer Luciano Ghirga does not support his client’s family’s efforts to put their daughter under the glare of televised media scrutiny, but he says they are going forward nevertheless.
On June 1, Knox is due to appear in another Italian trial for slander, for accusing Italian police of hitting her during the interrogation. If convicted, another 6-years could be added to her sentence.
