Third of Three Tibetan Brothers Jailed By Chinese Authorities
July 3, 2010
Rinchen Samdrup was arrested after he posted an article on his website that was supportive of the Dalai Lama, which is a site about the protection of the Himalayan environment.
He was given five years for the ‘offense’, though he pleaded not guilty to the crime, which his lawyer called “a mistake”.
Samdrup was arrested a week after his brother, Karma Samdrup, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, the BBC reports.
Karma was a well-loved activist, who has previously been praised by the government for his work for the Chinese people. He was convicted of grave robbing, and several other offenses many believe were falsified by the police.
