Dmitry Medvedev: Iran Closer to Nuclear Weapons
July 12, 2010
Russia (ChattahBox) – A report by BusinessWeek quoted Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who said that he believed that Iran is significantly closer to gaining nuclear weapons capabilities.
His comments were in response to escalating conflicts with the Iranian government, after sanctions were called for, and Congress announced consequences to any company found operating with the nation.
“It’s obvious that Iran is moving closer to possessing a capability that could in principle be used to build nuclear weapons,” Medvedev said.
“We need patience and the swift resumption of the negotiating process. If diplomacy lets this chance slip away now, it will be our collective failure.”
