Death Toll in India Train Crash Rises to 60, More Deaths Feared

July 19, 2010

India (ChattahBox) – Tragedy struck when a speeding express train crashed into the back of a passenger train in Sainthia, killing 60 people, and leaving others trapped in the cars, RAW reports.

In addition to those who are already known to be dead, 160 are thought to be injured, and there are potentially more bodies still trapped in the carriages.

Official worry that the death toll could be significantly higher, as they rush to save those still in the passenger car, which was pushed clear off the rails.

This is the second train crash in India in two months, after the May terrorist attack by Maoist rebels that led to 150 deaths.

Police have not said whether or not this crash may have had a similar motive, or if it was an accident.
