Iran Denies Assassination Attempt Against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

August 4, 2010

(ChattahBox) – I really doubt this would have changed things much as the country’s Supreme Leader would have put a new puppet in his place, but the world was supposedly almost ridden of hardliner Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was left unharmed on Wednesday after an apparent assassination attempt.  A handmade grenade exploded near his car as Ahmadinejad was on his way to address a crowd, according to Iranian media. The grenade apparently hit a press van that was accompanying the president according to khabaronline.ir.  It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt in the attack, and Ahmadinejad went on to give his speech. One person has been arrested for the attack.  Iran has since gone on the defensive and rigorously denied reports of the attack, suggesting the noise was just a firecracker.
