Columbian Teen Facebook Hit List…What Is Going On?

August 25, 2010

Colombia (ChattahBox) – Three teens who were killed in Columbia were found to have their names on a set of hit lists published on Facebook, amidst 63 other names of young people in the country, CNN reports.

The first two teens, 16-year-old Diego Ferney Jaramillo and 17-year-old Eibart Alejandro Ruiz Munoz, were killed on August 15. They were shot while riding together on a motorcycle between two cities.

The first hit list was posted two days later on August 17, containing the two names among the 63. At first, police thought it was a tasteless joke, but then a third teen, 19-year-old Norbey Alexander Vargas was shot and killed, and his friend, 16-year-old Juan Pablo Zambrano Anacona was wounded while chasing after what he described as multiple assailants.

A second hit list was published shortly after with a list of 31 females names, and like the male list, the people involved seem for the most part unrelated. This has caused a great deal of panic in the population, as speculation as to who is responsible and why continues.

Some believe it must be an act by a local drug gang operating in the area, but the reasons that they would target these teens is still unknown.
