Girl Pulled Off Bike and Mauled By Rottweilers
August 30, 2010
Scotland (ChattahBox) – A little girl who was riding on her bike was surrounded by two rottweilers and pulled down, where she was mauled so badly she has had to have major surgery, the Telegraph reports.
Rhianna Kidd, a 10-year-old girl, was on her way to her grandmothers when two large rottweilers and a rottweiler puppy ran from a neighbor’s yard and into the street. Her grandmother saw the dogs approaching from her home a few houses away and told Rhianna to keep peddling.
However, one of the dogs pounded and sank its’ teeth into her leg unprovoked, and the other pounced on her arms. They pulled her from the bike and began to maul her.
While Rhianna managed to break free three times, each time she did the dogs would once again attack her. A neighbor who was in their car blared the horn to stop the dogs, and the grandmother ran forward to get her grandchild. She managed to get her back to her home and call an ambulance, but the dogs followed.
“Once we were inside, the Rottweilers were peering in the living room window. We were so scared,” she recalled.
The owner, rather than aid in the investigation into the vicious attack and explain why the dogs were loose in the first place, was later seen fleeing their home with the two dogs and puppy in a taxi. But the police tracked them down and they have been arrested.
The dogs are set to be put down, and the owner is being charged with offenses under the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991.
Rhianna is in stable condition, but she has had to have cosmetic surgery to fix the damage done by the attack.
