Russia Suicide Attack Kills 15, Wounds 130 In North Caucasus
September 9, 2010
Russia (ChattahBox World News) – The situation in the North Caucasus region of Russia is becoming more hostile than ever, with the worst suicide bombing to hit the area in years killing 15 people and wounding at least 133 earlier today.
According to reports by RAW, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but it could be one of several extremist branches in the region, which has become more violent in the past years than it has been in several. In April, another similar bombing killed 12 people and injured scores.
Some of those hurt in today’s blast suffered minor injuries, but 87 of those hurt are in the hospital, and many of them are in serious condition, an official said.
The death toll will likely climb as those hurt are treated and the damage from the blast is cleared.
Vladikavkaz is one of many cities to be plagued by rising ethnic tensions between warring Muslim groups. Though less pronounced than Chechnya, the violence in the North Ossetia province has been extreme.
