France (ChattahBox World News) – France has said that they will not stop the deportation of Roma people from their country, despite a call from the European Union to halt them immediately.

Immigration Minister Eric Besson has told the BBC that they will not stop the ousting of Gypsies from the country, but have agreed to focus on the reintegration of the people back to Romania, where they originated.

“I want to say very clearly that there is no question of France suspending returns to countries of origin, whether they are Romanians, Bulgarians or any other nationality,” he said, saying that requests to halt the deportations will be ignored as they continue to crack down on Roma camps in the country.

This comes as Italy also continues to break up Roma camp grounds, forcing families to flee Milan and Rome.

The EU has called the measure a discriminatory one, based on the view that crime is directly related to Romani residents.
