Mexico Announces Mass Break Out Of Inmates
September 11, 2010
Mexico (ChattahBox World News) – Mexican authorities are looking for a ludicrous 85 inmates that have escaped by climbing over a all using a ladder in Reynosa, in Northern Mexico.
The prison break involved the use of a ladder and the ignorance of the guards, which officials believe was likely deliberate. All guards in the prison are being questions over suspicion that they aided in the breakout.
This is the second large escape from a Northern Mexican prison in recent months, after an August breakout of 40 inmates, all related to the violent drug cartels in control of the region. Many of the 85 escaped are also members of the drug trade, and were arrested as part of the campaign of President Felipe Calderon.
The problem of corruption in the judicial and political system, as well as in law enforcement, is a big one. Police are often paid to look the other way, or even assist in crimes in the name of the cartels. In July, four guards were accused of releasing inmates from prison to fulfill contract killings, even providing them with the weapons used in the crimes.
