Crocodiles Let Loose In Mexico After Flooding Following Hurricane

September 21, 2010

Mexico (ChattahBox World News) – Almost 280 crocodiles have escaped from a refuge in La Antigua, where they have crossed into wider Mexico.

Residents are being urged not to approach them or try to hunt them down, but instead to allow professionals to handle the situation. The crocodiles are a part of an endangered breed known as the Morelet. Experts from all over North America have been sent to try to capture them safely and get them back to a reserve.

Hurricane Karl caused major flooding in the region, leading to the breakout of the crocodiles. Some media sources have cited unconfirmed reports that there could be as many as 400, though officials deny this.
