Son of Kim Jong-Il Rises to Official Status as General

September 28, 2010

K. Korea (ChattahBox World News) – Kim Jong-il held one of the largest public gatherings in decades this week for a major announcement: the rise of his son to General, a position that would give him official status as a leader in the country. It is the strongest sign yet that Kim Jong-un will be the one to succeed his father in the North Korean dictatorship.

Little is known about Kim Jong-un, who has been kept closely guarded for years. According to a meeting caught in Seoul by the Guardian, where the move by North Korea is discussed, sources have called him a cold and calculating leader.

His obvious succession coming once his father either steps down or dies has been heavily protested in South Korea, by those who are angry at the continuation of a third generation of the brutal dictatorship that has seen an increase in poverty and North Koreans suffering from homelessness and starvation.
