Hamburg Central Point of European Terror Plot
October 4, 2010
Germany (ChattahBox World News) – The plot that has led to a mass travel warning through Europe was centrally formed in Hamburg, CNN has reported.
Ahmed Sidiqi was arrested by U.S. officials in July and imprisoned at a U.S. air force base. A German citizen of Afghan decent, the 36-year-old moved to Afghanistan once again with his wife and children. But his reasons were allegedly to travel in and out of Pakistan, where he was training as an insurgent with a terror cell group associated with Al Qaeda.
A few months ago, he contacted family back in Hamburg to tell them they were coming back, because he missed them. Shortly after, he was arrested.
He is said to be cooperating with the military in their inquiries, and he has not been formerly charged with a crime. He has told them that there were 10 others who went with him to the training camp in Pakistan, and that most dedicated themselves to a mass attack across Europe. The attack is allegedly consisting of simultaneous attacks in several cities, similar to those conducted in Mumbai in 2008.
Hamburg intelligence reports have said that more than 200 Islamists in the city have been labeled as having violent intentions and support violent jihad. Another 45 have shown direct support of Al Qaeda. Arrests are next to impossible, due to current German laws associated with terrorism.
