Al Qaeda Tried to Ship Dogs to U.S.—With Bombs Sewn Under Their Fur

November 8, 2010

Iraq (ChattahBox World News)—No one can resist helping an adorable dog onto a plane. That was apparently the thinking behind an al Qaeda plot two years ago, when terrorists surgically placed bombs under the fur of two stray dogs and registered them on a U.S.-bound airplane, the New York Post Reports.

As the dogs were being prepared for the flight in their individual kennel cages, U.S. soldiers working in the airport noticed that the dogs had died—due to the poor surgical techniques used—and the bombs were subsequently discovered, according to the report, which was originally published in the French daily Le Figaro.

Experts believe that the original intention was for the dogs to explode while the plane was in flight. It’s unclear specifically where the U.S.-bound planes were headed, the Post reports.
