First Female Taliban Suicide Bomber Kills 45 in Pakistan

December 26, 2010

(ChattahBox World News) – A devastating Taliban attack by a burka-wearing bomber lobbing grenades and detonating an explosive vest killed at least 45 refugees and wounded 100, in northwest Pakistan on Saturday.  The attack confirmed to be carried out by Pakistan’s first female suicide bomber, ripped through a crowd of perhaps a 1000, waiting to receive emergency food rations from a U.N. agency World Food Program (WFP) in the town of Khar, Pakistan.  President Obama condemned the bombing from his vacation post in Hawaii, calling it “outrageous.”

The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack, with spokesman Azam Tariq telling the media that the group has a large number of women suicide bombers who would be used in future attacks.  An official from the WFP food distribution project says the government has ordered the temporary closure of all four food relief centers in the Bajur district.   More than 300,000 people along the border with Afghanistan, have been driven from their homes by a military push against the insurgents that began in 2008.
