Families Find Similarities Between Two Women Murdered 37 Years Apart
January 7, 2011
U.K. (ChattahBox World News)—An eerie twist has developed involving two unsolved murders in Bristol, England, with the families of the two victims discovering several similarities between the killings. Glenis Carruthers, who was killed in 1974, and Joanna Yeates, who was strangled last month, were both found shoeless but clothed in the same area, and neither had been sexually assaulted, the Daily Mail reports.
In addition, both women were attacked around the same time of the night, and were around the same age. Carruthers’ family told the Mail that they were following the similarities between the two cases and eager to hear more from the police on whether the murders could be related.
Carruthers was killed after leaving a party in 1974 and a zookeeper happened upon the murderer at the time, describing the killer as a man in his 20s with brown shoulder-length hair. Police believe that Yeates knew her killer and that she may have even invited the person into her apartment, and arrested her landlord Chris Jefferies, but he is expected to be released soon if the forensic evidence does not match his data, the Mail notes.
